The Ethical Hacker Network Presents

Google has become the de facto standard in the search arena. It’s easy, quick and powerful. For those same reasons that the general user has gravitated to Google, so have the hackers. And as we all know, if the hackers use, the security professionals need to utilize it as well. And it doesn’t hurt to have Johnny Long (with help from Ed Skoudis) showing you the ropes.

Paint.NET is image and photo manipulation software designed to be used on computers that run Windows 2000, XP, Vista, or Server 2003. It supports layers, unlimited undo, special effects, and a wide variety of useful and powerful tools.

It started development at Washington State University as an undergraduate senior design project mentored by Microsoft, and is currently being maintained by some of the alumni that originally worked on it. Originally intended as a free replacement for the MS Paint software that comes with Windows, it has grown into a powerful yet simple tool for photo and image editing. The programming language used to create Paint.NET is C#, with a small amount of C++ for setup and shell-integration related functionality.

Just how much can you achieve with pure CSS

Written by Ruhani Rabin on February 28, 2006.

Just how much can you achieve with pure CSS? Some amazing demonstrations.

This site is now coming from the new host/server and, for browsers that understand, it is being served correctly as ‘application/xhtml+xml‘ so I hope that the purist amongst you are a little happier. As PHP is also available the comments script is run on the same server, so no going off site any more for your comments and they should be quicker.

Because my site deals with experimental CSS that is exactly what you get JUST CSS, no javascript or any other programming language has been used in any of the demonstrations.

This article shows you how to improve the boot speed of your Linux system without compromising usability. Essentially, the technique involves understanding system services and their dependencies, and having them start up in parallel, rather than sequentially, when possible.

Although undoubtedly an excellent system, a common criticism of Linux — voiced particularly by those from a Microsoft Windows background — is that it takes a long time between pressing the "on" button and actually being able to use a Linux system. In essence, their argument goes, Linux takes a long time to boot.

Although simple to understand, the technique I present here for speeding the boot process requires careful implementation; my hope is that Linux distributions will adopt this technique and users will be spared the configuration task. But if you’re feeling adventurous, read on.

Strategic Public Relations Blog has a nice list of Flickr hacks, tips, and ideas.

Flickr Portfolio: Face it. Attachments suck. If you’re angling for a new job and simply HAVE to show them a media placement, you can create a Flickr clip book. Scan reprints or use images from the article to link to it online. This works even better for any printed materials you’ve created. Just be sure to adhere to online copyright rules and regs.
