search gridwell

search gridwell is a search engine designed to provide an easier interface for people to use.

The gridwell search engine does this by

  • using a site icon (favicon.ico) against the search results
  • displaying more search results per page
  • allow navigation between search results with less mouse movement
  • simplifying the displayed search results
  • accessing search gridwell directly from the browser

site icons

If a website domain uses an icon (called favicon.ico), then this icon is displayed next to the search results, to help identify useful sites. Websites that use this icon can be found by looking next to the website URL in the browser toolbar. For example looking at the URL in browser toolbar for this page you can see a small icon favicon to the left of the URL, this icon is the one used against the search results.

PictureCloud - Creates Virtual Reality from Digicam Images

Written by Ruhani Rabin on May 19, 2006.

Dan Natsch from Missouri based company Picture Cloud LLC has invited me to write about the features of PictureCloud.com . PictureCloud.com is a innovative way to Make Virtual Reality shows or you can say 360 degree shows for your website, auctions, product specification or just for fun use. I bet some of you know about Quick Time VR which actually stiches images with one another then make a virtual wide image out of it. But QuickTime VR requires you to have quicktime installed in your system to be able to display the VR files.

PictureCould offers you to create your own VR shows just using your digital camera. let me give you some insight on how does it actually works. Lets say you own a digital camera, you need to take some shots of the item which you want to make virtual show. You can follow the exact simple and easy steps provided at picturecloud. If the object is small you can put your camera in one position and take about 15 to 20 shots of the object while each shot you rotate the object a bit until it reaches the other side. PictureCloud has the technology to convert all of these images and create a virtual reality show for you. You can see some good examples at PictureCloud.com . PictureCloud site is powered by Java,Web 2.0 and Flash technology so you need to have Java Runtime Environment and Latest flash player installed to operate it in optimal mode. It generates a fragment of code which you can easily integrate to any product auction, personal websites and even on places like public community. It converts all of your series images and blend it to a flash presentation which will look like a virtual show. For large objects such as cars you need to stand a fix distance centering the object then take 1 shot and move yourself approximately in a 360 degree rotation. See the drawing below to understand it properly. It's strongly advisable not to use Flash in any condition.

PictureCloud offers both free and paid services (as low as $0.99).
