There are many kind of search engines such as Web Page search, Image Search, Blog Search, Product search, Group Search, Usenet search and even people search. Twing is a brand new search engine. But Why? Why do we need Twing search engine? To enlighten that matter we need to know what Twing is all about. As a full time web developer and part time blog writing job it’s always been my activity to be very busy with public PHP, ASP.NET and many other forums. Forums are discussion boards to find out your answers and at the same time share your answers to the large community of Individuals. I’ve seen forums and boards containing 1 million users and hundreds of thousands posts. Now it can give you a real hard time if you want to find suitable topics of your interest. Well this is where Twing breaks the ice.

Twing is a forum content and topics search engine that can smoothen your daily need to search on forums around the globe. Yes I know Google does covers the overall search but if you need to search inside forum topics specifically, it wont be that easy with Google. Twing is designed in the manner of Web 2.0 standards and presents the search results in a friendly manner. Even thought it’s beta and there might be issues that needed to be resolved, Twing is providing a clean clear representation of forum topic search, a forum directory and a buzz page where you can find what glitters around the globe. BloodR - Keeping track of your Blood Pressure Online

BloodR is a Adobe Flex technology based web application in a simpler and easier interface to keep track of your blood pressure and Weight. It’s still at alpha/beta staged application and there will be more interface tweaks need to be done, nonetheless it gives you report of your weight and blood pressure in a manner of interactive charts. It’s a nice tool to keep tabs on your health.

SilkFair - Socialized Web 2.0 Shopping and Selling

SilkFair is claimed to be the true rival of EBay alternative for buyers and sellers online. It comes with a Web 2.0 looks and feels which made it more trendy and sleek. Sometimes E-Bay can be confusing and troublesome for the End users and not to mention there were a lot of E-Bay Boycott campaigns going on, even though I really doubt how to boycott e-bay since it’s been around for quite a while so they manage to have a large user base. But why SilkFair counts on my opinion cause It’s simpler and more easier to navigate, so for day to day general end-users will have more flexibility for what they are looking for and at the same time similar experience will cover for the buyers. Addition to all these SilkFair offers a SilkFair SandBox to test out their system, which is IMHO is just effective for anyone to find what lies beneath the hood. Signup and start a store for any buyer or seller is free. They are offering integration of popular payment gateways such as Paypal and also with google checkout. Enables users to rate products, items etc. More impressive part came when I’ve seen the actions to promote your profile on social networking sites like Digg and Reddit. SilkFair is going to be the leading Web 2.0 Socialized Shoppers and Sellers place. Each shop offers permanent urls, blogs for the shops and Individual Shop forums. I found it quite interesting that they have RSS feeds assigned with product categories. Quite Unique features are search by Color and Visual Search, you can see below such examples.

Search by Color is a unique feature which really brings different level of impression on the search feature.

Accompanying with Color search there is another Search Utility called visual search.

The Web 2.0 style ajax product hover options are not only handy it also added the overall advantage of quickly get the summery of the product without actually browsing the product page. Nifty! yeah..

At last but not least there was a question buried under my thoughts that why they choose the name “SilkFair” and I was able to find the my answer on their about page, which describes

Confiles lets you share your common configuration files at ease, you can store your configurations files and share them with other people or access them remotely anytime and from everywhere. Have you ever missed your old xorg.conf or that htaccess file with IP restrictions? Do you use common .INI or XML configurations in many PC/Desktops? Do you often setup different computers in different locations? If so, confiles will be useful for you.

How does it works actually?

After registering for free you'll be able to login and access your control panel. There you can upload your configuration or script files, edit or delete them. Also add additional data such as comments or related software. Setting your files as private you can protect critical information (users, IPs, …). Yappd - yet another Twitter Clone

Yappd was developed, like most applications, to fulfill a need. We wanted something that not only allows you to know what your friends are doing, but also allow you to see what they're doing as well. Yappd does just that, it allows you and your friends to keep each other in the loop. You can accomplish that by posting a yapp through the website, by sending an e-mail, text message, or picture message.

It seems to me now become too many clones of Twitter. I've also checked the features of this Yappd, it only allows USA phone carriers. I think Jaiku already did way much better and reliable stuff than that. I can't see a potential of this application as you can see techcrunch also thinking likewise.

Jaiku - A new Edge of Twitter

Jaiku is another web presence site which you might have already seen in similar services like Twitter and Pownce. There are a few variations of Twitter in different languages. Previously I've wrote about Twitter. Twitter clouded the whole internet in a very short time. Jaiku is offering something which is like twitter but with some additional functionality. Lets take a look what Jaiku is offering currently.

Jaiku Features:

Web based presence posting, similar to Twitter but Jaiku offers Emotion icons.
Jaiku offers channels, which is something like groups.
Jaiku helps you to add RSS feeds in your jaiku account so that whenever you update your blog or photos then it'll be posted as a message in Jaiku posts. Many kind of Web feeds are supported.
Jaiku also have flash badges to embed your Jaikus in your blog or any other place where you can insert Embed Codes.

These are only some of the features explained but my personal experience I found Jaiku is a bit more faster than Twitter. And yes the mobile posting works even from this country. You can activate your phone to enable posting to Jaiku. Jaiku Developers group Devku already offering API for people to integrate Jaiku in their services or applications. API is divided into 3 types, Simple RSS (read only) , JSON format and XML-RSS format.

At this moment Jaiku offers dynamic mobile applications for mostly Nokia N and E series phones - those that run the S60(3rd ed) OS only. But it would be great if they support other Brand of Phones too. Oh yes one more thing is, it's quite complicated if you want to invite bunch of your friends to Jaiku. I'm looking forward that they will find a easier way to make the invitation interface much easier.

Users can easily find information about: websites, videos, traveling, music, TV, medical, movies, phone numbers, translations, flight tickets, recopies, traffic, weather, and many other handy things that users look for on their daily dose of internet.
