5pmPoker Main Screen
When Alan Curtis requested me to take a look at the 5pmPoker.com which is a new free Ajax-based Texas Hold’em Poker playing site. Honestly, I was confused about myself for a moment. Sorry to say it but I don’t know how to play poker, I’ve only have the technical idea of the game. But the thrive to explore the technology behind it, I couldn’t resist to peek a look at it. Yes they have proven that a web based game can be fun and interactive even it is not using flash. I was surprised with the site features, application and graphics. The site is not about gambling, its about having fun and being able to play with family and friends using friendly-looking characters while learning the game. The browser-based game was developed using the Google Web Toolkit, while the illustrations and animation elements were drawn by one of the regular artists of MAD Magazine (DC Comics), Tom Richmond. You will get the feel of the graphic once you are there. Tom’s incredible work was matched by his professionalism and understanding of the requirements in the digital workspace.

The site features public tables with up to eight players and varying chip stakes. It also has the Internets only tournament-on-demand feature, where players can start heads-up tournaments at any time with different chip rewards for the top three finishers. There is a chat feature so players can communicate directly with each other, and a side panel shows the probability of your hand winning and the likelihood of hitting each of the possible poker hands. Why not we take a look the features this site is giving you for free. Read the rest of this entry »

symbaloo

Symbaloo is a new concept for searching things over the internet. Simple way to search the internet. Users can easily find information about: websites, videos, traveling, music, TV, medical, movies, phone numbers, translations, flight tickets, recopies, traffic, weather, and many other handy things that users look for on their daily dose of internet. Now it is accessible within a single click. Additionally users can add their own content links to Symbaloo, as example: blog feeds, news pages, media services and various other things. Symbaloo supports drag & drop functionality so it is fun and easy to modify the page in the bast & convenient way for a user to use it. Removing an item is simple, just drag it to the middle of the page. Blocks can be exchanged positions between each other. Powered by ajax and Web 2.0 Symbaloo could be a busy persons web startup page. Those who doesn't like the concept of leading Web 2.0 startup pages like PageFlakes.com or Netvibes, they most probably love the concept of Symbaloo.

What Symbaloo might want to do:

  1. Add user registration system, maintain user profiles
  2. Give an option for the users to select their language and area
  3. Integrate more Gadgets, Gmail mail topics display
  4. Integrate RSS reader
  5. Ability to add pages
  6. Notifier icons for updated feeds
  7. Display search results in an Internal ajax window

G.ho.st is a collection of web 2.0 applications tied together inside a globally hosted operating system. So once you signup with their operating system you'll be given a separate space for you including the operating systems applications. It gives you the mobility of using the same operating system from anywhere. The concept is to virtually present a pc with an operating system using your regular web browser. By default you will get a 3GB space upon signup. It actually consists of many web 2.0 applications in a single connected web operating system environment. I personally find it amazing and yes i would really like to see the future development of this product. http://www.schmedley.com
Schmedley is offering really nice web startup pages to the audience. It's still in alpha stage of the development but already shown off neat interfaces powered by ajax/web 2.0 technology. It's has multiple data channels which actually works and looks like widgets. In many cases Schmedley becomes a content provider, dedicated to offering an innovative way to carry out different web searches and perform specific tasks while gathering data from various sources. As of the power of web 2.0 users are able to navigate and perform tasks in a streamlines performance, most pages and searches doesn't require you to refresh the page. From one single place you can monitor stocks market, you can chat with all your friends using the popular meebo IM technology, you can do your shopping in amazon which is really interesting, it's also possible to do a live image search on keywords, search results are multiple, send free sms to your friends, built in simple and elegant RSS reader, movie showtimes, calendar and many more. I know it's not yet module based like leading top web startup page providers like pageflakes and netvibes but it's still one of the elegant web 2.0 web startup which is impressive.
